What Not Wednesday~ 1

EveryDaytheWonderfulHappens

So after stumbling across this blog by way of another friend's blog I decided to give What Not Wednesday a try. Hop on over to Every Day the Wonderful Happens and check out some other random thoughts why don't ya:)

Now- if we can put a man on the moon, why can't someone invent a glue bottle that never clogs? After teaching elementary school art for 16 years I've tried'em all, and every single last one of them ends with me jamming a paper clip down in there and wiggling it around in order to extract the giant glue booger. Try doing that for 26 glue hungry waiting kindergartners. You name it, I've done it. I've tried cleaning the tips after every use so nothing is left to dry up - I've tried leaving the paper clip in the tip between uses- I've even tried leaving the tips open in between uses, but basically it's useless! My students know that I'm the only one allowed to jam anything down inside that orange tip, but every once in awhile I catch a rogue whose managed to accomplish this insanity.

And another thing... whose big idea was it to put off white wall to wall carpeting in this house we bought? Why would any contractor put carpet anywhere close to the color white in any home? Is it cheaper? Because the only person in the world who could possibly appreciate that concept is this guy.

Because that is exactly what I predict our carpet will look like before the end of the year .

  1. Okay, I kind of like glue boogers. But I am also a freak who likes to peel the skin off a sunburn. Of course, I don't have to deal with 26 kindergartners chanting, "GLUE, GLUE, GLUE!!". And if I did, we would have very big problems, the least of which would be glue.

Also, berber. yes, yes, yes. So much better than the beige stuff throughout our house!

Thanks for linking up--I'm looking forward to following along with your blog!

  2. yay! love that you did this, stephanie!!
i SO get you on the clogged glue bottles! that's why i don't let my students use them. we do the ol' pour out the glue on a paper plate and use popsicle sticks to rub it on. or glue sticks. glue sticks are my friend.
and while i don't like glue boogers, i do love peeling that layer of glue...it's kind of gratifiying, no?

and i can never look at pollack's work without thinking of olivia the pig :)

  3. Good evening! I just had to laugh at your glue comment. Thinking scotch tape would be easier. Love the rogue pencil!

  4. I'm glad you linked up and I have to say that I'm as befuddled by the carpet choice as you are. I am NOT a carpet person!! My husband and I built a house a couple of years ago and I had agreed to at least carpet the bedrooms. While we were building, my child had a virus in the other home we were staying in WITH carpet and that was all she wrote!! NO carpet ANYWHERE in my house:)
